Over the years, Beggars' Oak have danced many different dances, with new ones added regularly and old ones revived. We include dances for three, four, five, six or eight dancers, in various formats and using assorted different props,to give a varied and interesting display whenever we perform.
Some of our garland dances are Liddesdale, Lancaster garland, Basque garland and Conington.
Dances using bobbins include Chandos and Little Lever
Sticks are used in several dances, including Mrs Keppel's cat, Ashton, Tingley and Carr Lodge Polka
We still regularly use two of the first dances learnt by the side, Ashton and Basque Garland, and have recently updated Lancaster Garland, another of the original dances.
In the next year, we hope to revive Dukinfield, a favourite of many long-standing members, giving our newcomers chance to learn it.
Our most recent addition is the Nutting Girl, unusual in using both sticks and garlands.
